Welcome to U-Heal Shelter and Sanctuary
OUR GOAL: We are currently working with Lincoln Animal Shelter and helping them adopt their animals. U-HEAL is negotiating with several towns in RI to take over their existing facilities and contract shelter services. In the future, our goal is to create a large animal shelter that will focus on adoption, rehabilitation and a safe haven for animals that are simply unwanted. We plan on creating programs with nursing homes, family and single person adoptions. We want to customize our programs and allow animals to have a full healthy and loving life. Our work will be rescue based, and our focus will be on adoption and sanctuary but we also want to rehabilitate animals and try to keep the "unadoptable" in a sanctuary like setting that we can work with and still give them a happy life. We will also focus on rehabilitating animals with correctable behavioral and physical issues, prevention (spay and neutering), education at the sanctuary and school programs.
THE DIRECTORS: Among the directors, we have a finance BS and practicing attorney as well as an MBA/JD, who possess ample skill and knowledge to run this non-profit effectively. We also have 1 member of the board that is going to be a certified pet therapist.
NETWORK: We are in the process of creating a network with other shelters and sanctuaries that share our vision and goals. We do believe that since we are all working towards the same goal, we should share resources, knowledge and perhaps even create some sort of joint program. Together, we can create alliances that will in the end make us stronger and more efficient. We are attending conferences and training to continuously learn more and to network with others to share knowledge.
